![]() This week for genius hour I painted a really cute baby pig that has flowers in his mouth and beside of him. I think this painting is adorable. I will try to sell it on Etsy and I am excited to see if it will sell. I don't know how much I am going to sell it for yet. I am thinking like 15 bucks. The painting process took me about two hours if you add in the amount of time it took me to draw out the pig. I used the same creator who did the last tutorial that I watched. I like how she talks me through the painting process and keeps it as easy as possible. I started by drawing the pig. I messed that part up a bit because they pig ears was supposed to reach the edge of painting but mine didn't. It was like the pig's body was too long. I decided that I was not going to re-draw the whole thing, so the painting is a little of center. It turned out OK in the end. I then painted the background blue and white. After that I painted the pig light pink. I add some shading to the pig and them his eyes, snout and differentiated the inside section of the ear from the outside of the ear. I add some highlights and shadows. Lastly I painted the flowers that grow beside the pig and one that is in the pigs mouth. My sister and her fiance bought me some more paint. They are the ones that wan't me to set up an Etsy account. I couldn't set one up by myself because I am not eighteen yet. They bought me a little stand, lots of paint, canvases, and much needed new brushes. I have around a total of 15 canvases, so I don't need no more of those. I will post a picture of the pig in my gallery.

![]() This week for genius hour I painted a sunflower on tin. It didn't take nearly as long as I thought it would, which was great. This painting only took me about an hour. I don't know if it was because it was just a really easy painting, or I am just getting the hang of painting sunflowers. In order to start painting on the tin, I had my dad fix the edges of it so I couldn't get cut while painting on it. Next I looked up the tutorial that I wanted to use. The lady doing the tutorial has a super cool website called step-by-step painting. She has about 4 dozen tutorials on her site and on YouTube. She walks through the painting process effortlessly and I will be using her tutorials again. Her name is Tracie Kiernan. It is also pretty neat how she has all of her tutorials organized by the seasons. I started the sunflower by painting the black seed thing in the middle. Then I painted the petals. I went back over the petals and add highlights and shadows. This parts is becoming easier and easier to do. Then I added some seeds to the middle of the sunflower with white, black, reddish-brown and orange. That was the end of the painting process. I glued some string to the back of the tin so it can be hung on the wall. Since this painting was so easy, next week I am going to work on something other than painting. I might do some paper mache, graffiti or something else that I have never tried before. I will also be posting the horse picture that I finished last week on the slideshow. The sunflower picture will be posted too. I might do something different next week but I also need to paint more for my Etsy page. I am thinking about painting a pig next week and then posting that on Etsy, but I don't know because I need to try more stuff for genius hour. ![]() This week for genius hour I finally finished my horse painting. It turned out pretty good but I wished I had picked another one to do. The tutorial that I watched turned out to be three different parts. So all together the video was about an hour and a half long. I just lost interest about half way through and it took me a while to find the motivation to start on it again. All I had left to do on it was add some highlights and paint the background. I painted the background red, blue, yellow and white. It is pretty much just a splotches everywhere. Another reason it took so long is because it 23 by 17. The painting is huge. I think I am just going to give it away because it I am tired of looking at it. I am going to post the picture of on my gallery. The one that is posted right beside this text looks similar to the one that I painted. I also painted a picture of half of a wolf's face. I turned out pretty good but I used most of my paint and will have to go get more. I started out with painting the canvas black and then I painted the eye. I loved painting this particular piece more than any of my other ones. While painting it I had to go back over again and again. I had to do it this way to make it look furry. I want to paint another wolf in the future and maybe sell them. It took my about five days to complete. But I kept getting side tracked because I painted in my sister room and she can be very distracting. I posted the picture of it on the gallery. This is the link to the tutorial that I watched to teach me how to paint the wolf. I wouldn't not recommend this tutorial because she does not talk about what she is doing or how she is doing it. And she has it sped up so you have to turn down the speed in the settings. I tried to work on my sketchbook over spring break but I didn't get around to it. I did work on the first page of it and started to color it with markers. I didn't reach my goal of working on it everyday but I hope to just work on it when ever I can. ![]() This week for Genius Hour I finished painting my horse. It took me forever to complete and I don't think it turned out that good. The YouTube video that I watched as a tutorial was pretty complicated and was divided into three parts. When I started the project I did not know that it had three parts. The total amount of time combined of the videos was more than an hour and thirty minutes. I finished adding values to the face, ears, and nose. The face was extremely difficult to paint and I did pretty bad on that part. I also added highlights to the nose and mane. The mane was hard to "bring to life" because there are so many different hairs. So, I decided to just do it a much simpler way by painting different colored lines. I will need to back over it and touch up a few more things because I messed up on the background of the picture. For the background, I just put a bunch of little splotches of paint. I like it because I had more fun painting splotches than I did painting the horse. Keep in mind that if you ever want to paint a horse, don’t do it. Painting horse is extremely challenging. The link to the tutorial that I watched is in a previous weekly blog post. A picture of my horse painting will be posted on the slideshow on the about page. I also drew in my sketchbook this week as well. I still need to add color to it and some finishing touches, but I like it. When I first picked up my pencil and started drawing, I was trying to make it perfect. I had no fun and no enjoyment when I had to draw like that. I loosened up and started to draw again. I will finish the first page of my sketchbook over spring break. I hope to draw more in my sketchbook during spring break. I want to make an effort to draw some in it at least once every week for Genius Hour. I want to have the majority of the pages filled by the end of the twelve weeks.
